The first Warner’s picture is made of mushrooms

Carl Warner first came to this food art in 1986. This was when he saw the portobello mushroom whose shape is similar to shiitake. Warner said: “I started thinking about doing something with this particular mushroom. I imagined a world made of portobello mushrooms and green foliage. Hence, I brought it to my room, combining them with a few beans and a little rice. That resulted in my first picture.” It has been 10 years since his passion for food art, and Warner has created a lot of lively sceneries. He desires to encourage the healthy eating by using natural ingredients in everyday meals.

From Fruit And Vegetable to Art: A Sophisticated Process

His office is located in London, with all of his artworks. First, he drafts the necessary ingredients. Then Warner and a team of food stylists begin to create the picture from the smallest details. It takes them about 2-3 days to complete the artwork.

The biggest problem Warner faces is keeping the food fresh before they wilt under the light’s heat in the room. To overcome it, he puts together individual images so that the overall picture looks alive and real. Warner said to My Modern Met: “I tend to use a combination of classical techniques to deceive viewers that this is a real scenery. What I find the most interesting is that it can bring joy to everyone. ”

According to Warner, choosing organic ingredients wastes a bit time. He has to go to grocery stores and food markets all over the world to find the desired ingredients. He explains: “My painting is a three-dimensional picture, so I need to choose the ingredients carefully. I pay a close attention to their shape, texture, and color.”

The wonderful artworks catch the viewers’ eyes

With that meticulosity, Warner has created the village of bread, the chocolate train, the sky with a lot of fruit air balloons … Carefully choosing each “brick,” Warner has successfully built his own art world.
